Looking at the bigger picture

.      This past winter every day after school my son would put on his snow boots and grab his tiny red shovel and whack away at the ice on our sidewalk. I would help him a bit, but he is very independent and wanted to do it himself. Each day I would watch him clear a little more of the sidewalk. It was definitely not an overnight process and there would be moments he would get frustrated because it looked like all the work he was doing was getting him nowhere. I encouraged him to keep going and assured him that his efforts were making a difference. It took him about a week and A LOT of hard work before he finally was able to clear the whole sidewalk. As we stepped back and looked at the full sidewalk and I told him what a good job he had done God began to speak to me. We go through things in life and sometimes they seem never ending.

It could be trying to lose weight or reaching for a goal or getting through a hardship. If we stepped back and looked at we could see that our efforts are making a difference even though it might not look like it. If you looked at the first picture of my son without looking at the second picture you wouldn't have known how big the sidewalk was and how much ice he actually had to whack at. Sometimes it's easy to get jealous of another person because you see them at the end of their journey, but you didn't see how long their own sidewalk was. God sees the bigger picture even when we don't. He has seen where we have been and knows where we are going. Jeremiah 29 11-14, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord…” As I always end these. I'm here if you need to talk and am praying for you.
                                                                   I love you all!

Here's a good clean joke to leave you with. I love a good joke. If you have a CLEAN one leave it in the comments and you might see it on a future post.
