As many of you know, Michelle's book came out November 5th. It is now available on Amazon Kindle, Nook, and in paperback. We thought it was only fair that she be featured this month.

Candie Bradfield:
Have you always known you wanted to be a writer? Did anything happen to push you in that direction?

Michelle Jetton: I've always loved writing, even as a young child. My first book, if you want to call it that, was in Mrs. Henderson's 7th Grade Class. After that you could find me writing in my journal, making radio shows, and creating scripts for home videos with my friends. I didn't really get serious about writing until a period of darkness in my life. Writing became my escape, my outlet, from the reality of what was going on. Amelia was birthed in a dream during that time and I woke up having to know what happened.

Candie Bradfield; I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through that but I am very glad to see that you have overcome it and seem stronger for doing so. I am also very thankful that you had that dream.
Is it hard to juggle having a family and being a writer at the same time? How do you do it?

Michelle Jetton: Yes it can be quite trying especially when I am focused on my writing and my son sticks a loud toy in my ear. Lol. It's all about time management for me. I have a schedule and I try to stick to it.

Candie Bradfield: Ha Ha. I understand completely since I have a son myself. I agree, I find it easier to get things done when I have a time line to follow.
What was the hardest part in getting your writing career started?

Michelle Jetton:  Getting someone to give me and my book a chance.

Candie Bradfield: I imagine that would be frustrating after spending all that time writing a book for it to seem like no one finds it interesting. I have read it and it would have been a shame for no one else to be able to.
For those who haven’t read your books yet, how would you describe your writing style?

Michelle Jetton:   I try to make my characters feel relatable and real. I find myself daily thinking what would Amelia do in this situation. Ha ha

Candie Bradfield: I think you did an awesome job at making them feel real. I loved that the story not only had magic but it also had everyday problems. When the characters talked about the past or were dealing with the present, I was always in the moment, feeling the emotions that they were. I appreciated the fact that they were flawed and candid.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Michelle Jetton:   Picking names because I put so much thought and effort into them.

Candie Bradfield: Clever, I've never given that much thought until now. I guess it would be a little weird to have a character who was suppose to be sweet named Cruella, lol.
What is something you do to overcome writer’s block?

Michelle Jetton:  I get up and leave the computer. I watch a movie or listen to music. Music is my muse.

Candie Bradfield:   If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Michelle Jetton:  I know this has probably been said by a lot of people, but J.K. Rowling. She proved single Moms could do anything.

Candie Bradfield:  I will agree with that. She is a remarkable woman. If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it have been and why?

Michelle Jetton:  I would have to say none of them because the books we love wouldn't be the same book if written by someone else.

Candie Bradfield:  Wow! That's a great answer and 100% true.
As a whole which character has been your favorite “good guy” to write about? Who has been your favorite villain?

Michelle Jetton:  Matthew Fairchild holds a special place in my heart. He is the boy next door that every teenage girl would like to date. My favorite villain is coming up in book 2. His name is Derik. You will meet him soon. ;)

Candie Bradfield: Yes, I would have to say, that Matthew is one of the sweetest book boyfriends that I have ever fallen for. No one can hold a candle to him. Ooh, I can't wait to meet Derik and see what kind of trouble he causes.
In your book do you feel like there is a particular character you relate to the most?

Michelle Jetton:  Definitely Amelia. She is my younger self.

Candie Bradfield: Since I do know you personally, I can't help but notice the similarities. I think that is very brave of you to put yourself out there like that. I also think it's the reason she is so relate-able as a character, because she is a piece of yourself.
Is there anywhere that you have traveled to that has inspired you to use it one of your upcoming books?

Michelle Jetton:  The story takes place in Cave Spring, GA. You will read about more of the town's landmarks in book 2.

Candie Bradfield: I have been there and think it's makes the perfect backdrop for this story. I can't wait to see what happens next book when they venture out into the city. What book are you reading now?

Michelle Jetton:  Awaken by Christy Sloat, Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things by Martina McAtee, and a few others. Lol

Candie Bradfield; I have read Awaken and it is a great book! I am also  reading Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, I love it so far and it's definitely a book I would recommend. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Michelle Jetton: Definitely Martina McAtee and Robert Beatty

Candie Bradfield:  Yes! Serafina and the Black Cloak by Robert Beatty is a must! What advice would you give to your younger self?

Michelle Jetton:  Keep moving forward! There are better days ahead! You have a purpose. He has a plan. Don't listen to the haters.

Candie Bradfield; Excellent advice! I think we all need to be reminded this at some point in our life.
What advice do you give to other aspiring authors?

Michelle Jetton:  Don't let a "no" stop you from living your dream. Take their rejection as constructive criticism and know that your book just wasn't for them. Keep trying and don't give up. Don't let anyone tell you your dreams aren't good enough. With faith and perseverance you can make them happen.

Candie Bradfield: I couldn't agree more.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Michelle Jetton: Thank you so much for giving Amelia a chance. It is because of you that the book is doing so well. (Please leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes and Noble after you've read it. It really helps authors out.)

Candie Bradfield: Thank you for writing such a magical world for us to escape into. I don't think that is to much to ask. Just a little copy and past action after it's written. ;o)

Candie Bradfield: How can readers discover more about you and you work?
